Domestic shipping for media is priced by the pound weight and is increased as each next pound is exceeded. In this system 17 oz and 31 oz ship for the same price. Most LPs weigh less than 16 ounces but when boxed up to ship they weigh more than that and are charged a higher price. The way my ecrater store works is by having the Postal Service automatically calculate the shipping price based on the exact weight as contained in the information I use when listing the item. In order to get the correct shipping price I must weigh the LP when boxed up. ♦ First-Class Package International Service for the UK (Group 5) from 9 ounces up to and including 32 ounces is USD36.50 retail for one LP. I have added the UK to my shipping choices and when I clicked on the shipping link it returned $31.95 so we must be getting the cheaper commercial rate. ♦ There's more to consider if you would please bear with me. If a buyer orders two LPs the automatic calculation will be based on the weight of two LPs in two boxes but the actual package will be both LPs in one box. This will charge the buyer too much for shipping. My only solution for this is to list both albums together as one product and enter the correct weight of the actual package. This will require some back and forth communication and adds to the process. ♦ The good news is that this effectively ships two LPs for the same price as one! If a buyer only wants one but has a friend who collects to partner with them they can each get their shipping cost cut in half.
